Professional Baseball Organization: Seattle Mariners (43rd round - 2008)
Professional Baseball Career: Was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 43rd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft...played in 39 games for the Mariners' affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League, batting .248 (35-for-141) with 18 runs scored, five doubles, three triples, 12 RBI and one stolen base.
At Stanford: Finished his four-year Stanford career with a .316 batting average (124-for-393), 69 runs scored, 21 doubles, five home runs and 55 RBI in 141 games (95 starts)...logged a .964 fielding percentage, with only 13 errors in 358 total chances...a two-time All-NCAA Regional selection, he posted a career .345 batting average (19-for-55) with five doubles, one home run and six RBI in 15 career postseason games.
As a Senior in 2008: Was an All-Pac-10 selection, helping Stanford to the College World Series by batting .329 (70-for-213) with 43 runs scored, 16 doubles, five home runs and 42 RBI in 63 games (55 starts)...set career highs in every offensive category, while also logging a career best .973 fielding percentage (5 errors in 187 total chances)...made 32 starts as Stanford's designated hitter, and 23 at first base...hammered right-handed pitching, batting .352 (50-for-142)...was a .360 hitter (27-for-75) with runners in scoring position...had 22 multi-hit games, along with eight multi-RBI contests...set his career high with five RBI on two occasions - February 29 at Cal State Fullerton and April 21 at Santa Clara...belted his first career home run February 29 against the Titans...logged a career-high 10-game hitting streak March 24-April 6, going 16-for-35 (.457) with eight runs, three doubles, one home run and three RBI...hit at a .326 clip (14-for-43) with five doubles, one home run and five RBI in 11 postseason contests...was selected to the Stanford Regional All-Tournament team after going 8-for-19 (.421) with six runs scored, four doubles, one home run and two RBI in five games...hit safely in two of four College World Series games, while collecting an RBI in Cardinal victories over Florida State and Miami.
As a Junior in 2007: Had a .295 (13-for-44) batting average with three RBI in limited action...played in 26 games (eight starts), as he was extensively used as a pinch-hitter...went 5-for-14 (.357) in a pinch-hitting role...had his best run of the season during a three-game stretch from April 28-May 1 in which he was 5-for-7 (.714) with two RBI...fielded 64 of his 66 defensive chances successfully for a .970 fielding percentage...hit .320 (8-for-25) with all three of his RBI in 12 Pac-10 games (seven starts).
As a Sophomore In 2006: Finished the season with a .308 batting average (40-for-130) and 10 RBI in 46 games (32 starts)...among regular starters, led the club in both walks (25) and on-base percentage (.427)...added 23 runs scored and five doubles...contributed six multiple-hit games, including four three-hit contests (tied for third on the club)...had a career-high four hits March 11 vs. USC... had a pair of six-game hitting streaks from May 5-12 (.381, 8-for-21, 3 RBI) and March 25-April 2 (.450, 9-for-20, 2B, 3 RBI)... hit .297 (19-for-64) with seven RBI in 21 Pac-10 contests (16 starts)...earned All-NCAA Regional honors by going 4-for-9 (.444) with an RBI...started 19 consecutive games at third base from (May 1 - June 3) before coming off the bench in the NCAA Regional championship contest versus North Carolina State (June 4).
As a Freshman In 2005: Went 1-for-6, all as a pinch-hitter...made his collegiate debut February 18 at Texas, and singled February 27 vs. USC for his first hit...earned a spot on the 25-player roster for the NCAA Waco Regional, but did not play.
High School: Graduated in 2004 from South Gate (Calif.) High School...ranked No. 65 among Baseball America's 2004 Top 100 High School Prospects...named 2004 first-team All-Southern California by Baseball Resource...selected first-team All-Section, All-City and All-Eastern League in each of his four prep seasons...led his team to two Eastern League titles (2002 and 2004)...chosen Team MVP in each of his final three seasons (2002-04), while earning his squad's Freshman Rookie of the Year honor in 2001...coached by Mike Ryan (2001) and David McBride (2002-04).
Other Amateur Baseball: Batted .342 (66-for-193) with four homers, 39 RBI and four stolen bases for the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League in his third consecutive summer with the club in 2007...hit .286 with a pair of doubles and three RBI as a member of the fourth place 2004 USA Junior National Team at the IBAF World Championships in Taiwan...was the No. 23 prospect at the 2003 Perfect Game National Showcase...spent five summers with the Los Angeles RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) team from 2000-04...was named the RBI Student-Athlete of the Year in both 2003 and 2004, as well as the 2001 RBI Player of the Year...led his team to a pair of RBI World Series titles in 2001 and 2002...participated in the 2003 Area Code Games, where he was named the third-best pure hitter...named first-team All-Eastern League in each of his five seasons in the RBI league.
