Became a part-time starter last season after seeing little action in his first year...Should be a significant member of the team this year...Fastest player on the team and very effective as a pinch-runner...Played last summer with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League...Batted .308 and pitched 12.0 innings with the Hawaii Island Movers of the Alaska League during the summer of 1998.

As a Sophomore in 1999 - Moved into the starting center field slot in mid-March and took full advantage of his new role with a career-high 12-game hitting streak from March 21-April 11 (including four straight multiple-hit games from March 26-April 1)...Stayed somewhere in the lineup for most of the remainder of the season even after regular starter Edmund Muth returned to his primary starting role in center field...After playing in just eight of Stanford's first 18 games, ended up with 45 appearances and 28 starts...Finished the season by hitting .321 (fourth on the team) with two homers, 18 RBI and nine stolen bases...In his home state of Texas, blasted his first collegiate homer in 11-8 win at Texas on March 21...Banged out a career-high four hits in 7-4 win at Washington on April 10...Went 3-for-3 with three runs scored in 7-0 win over Oregon State on April 30...Blasted a three-run homer to break open 14-4 win at UCLA on May 16.
