At Stanford: Veteran reliever is slated to be Stanford's primary left-handed arm out of the bullpen...has made 42 relief appearances over the last two seasons, going 2-3 with two saves and a 5.15 ERA (25er, 43.2ip)...is equally effective against both left and right-handed batters...can pitch in both a short and long relief role...has a bevy of big-game experience...a complete pitcher who can get hitters out with any of three pitches (fastball, curveball and a changeup)...possesses an outstanding work ethic.

As a Junior in 2008: Tied for second on the club with 20 relief appearances, proving an invaluable member of Stanford's College World Series staff...finished 1-3 with one save and a 4.12 ERA (11er, 24.0ip)...held opponents to a .264 batting average (24-for-91), with 17 strikeouts against nine walks...made eight appearances in Pac-10 play, with a 5.79 ERA (6er, 9.1ip) and .243 average against (9-for-37)...held conference left-handed batters to a paltry .176 mark (3-for-17)...fashioned an 0.87 ERA (1er, 10.1ip) through April 6 (six appearances), and had a 2.28 mark (6er, 23.2ip) as late as May 17 (first 17 appearances)...allowed five earned runs without recording an out over his final two regular season outings, skewing his overall season ERA...however, retired his only batter faced in the postseason...recorded a save with 4.0 hitless, scoreless innings in an April 6 victory over Arizona State, with only one walk and a career-high four strikeouts...earned the win April 16 vs. San Francisco after tossing 1.2-scoreless frames (1h,1bb,3so).

As a Sophomore in 2007: Served as Stanford's top left-hander out of the bullpen, going 1-0 with one save and a 6.41 ERA (14er, 19.2ip) in 22 relief outings...allowed just one earned run in 5.0 innings over his final seven appearances (1.80 ERA)...did not allow an earned run for six straight outings from February 24-March 27 (3.1ip)...appeared in 10 of 24 Pac-10 games, but struggled to a 9.28 ERA (11er, 10.2ip)...made his collegiate debut with a perfect inning (2so) on Opening Day at Cal State Fullerton (February 2)...earned his first career win February 18 at Texas.

As a Freshman in 2006: Was a member of the team, but did not see any game action due to injury.

High School: Graduated in 2005 from Kingwood (Texas) High School...selected first-team Preseason Greater Houston Area in 2005 after a second-team selection in 2004...named the 2003 District 21-5A Most Valuable Player, when he also earned second team All-Houston Area honors...helped his team to the 2005 state 5A title after a semifinal finish in 2004...posted a prep career record of 16-4 with a 1.80 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 80.1 innings pitched...tossed a no-hitter in his sophomore year...coached by David Denny.

Other Amateur Baseball: Has not played summer ball each of the last two years (2007-08)...played in the summer of 2006 for the Waikiki Surfers of the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League...club finished 11-19 overall and in sixth place in the regular season before winning the league title with an impressive postseason run...participated in the 2004 USA junior national team trials...pitched three summers with the Houston Heat (2003-05).

Personal Information: Son of Ken and Barbara Hancock...chose Stanford because it features, in his words, "good baseball and a great education"...is a fan of the Houston Astros, while if he could spend a day with anyone, it would be Nolan Ryan...would like to pursue a career as an investment banker...majoring in economics.
