Young's 25 Points, 15 Rebounds Sinks Navy, 85-68

STANFORD, Calif. -- Tim Young scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and ArthurLee added 18 points as 23rd-ranked Stanford defeated Navy,85-68, for its sixth straight win.

Kris Weems had 13 points for Stanford (7-1), which has won allthree meetings with Navy. Young and Lee each had 10 points asthe Cardinal built a 38-30 halftime lead.

"Navy showed the same aggressiveness they showed us lastseason," Stanford coach Mike Montgomery said. "With (Brevin)Knight out with the flu, we did a good job in maintaining ouroffense, particularly in the second half."

Michael Heary scored 25 points and Terrell Hickmon added 13 forthe Midshipmen (6-5), who were playing their first game againsta ranked opponent since losing to Missouri in the 1994 NCAATournament.

"Stanford exercised their inside game whe it really counted,"Navy coach Don DeVoe said. "They did a nice job. They forcedus into making a lot of mistakes, especially in the secondhalf."

Navy has not beaten a ranked foe since edging Michigan State,91-90, in 1986-87.

After Navy's Matt Sladky hit a three-pointer to tie the game,54-54, Weems was fouled and hit three free throws to ignite a16-4 run. He added a three-pointer during that span and Young'slayup capped the burst, giving the Cardinal a 70-58 lead with4:56 to go.

Peter Sauer had nine points and seven rebounds for Stanford,which shot 54.5 percent (24-of-44) from the floor.
