Nicole Younts is in her second year of coaching at Stanford. Last year, she led the Stanford Novice Lightweight 8 to a gold-medal finish at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships. She joined Stanford University after serving as the assistant varsity coach at the University of California at Berkeley. While at Cal, Younts worked closely with the varsity four, which finished second at PAC-10s and fifth at NCAAs. Prior to working at Cal, Younts coached the novice girls at her alma mater, West Springfield High School in Springfield, Virginia.
Younts learned to row in high school before attending the University of Virginia where she earned a BS in Civil Engineering. A four-year letter winner and captain, Younts was a member of a successful varsity lightweight eight at Virginia, earning medals at the Eastern Sprints and the I.R.A (nationals). Her 1998 lightweight four won a gold medal in the Head of the Charles.
