No. 3 Stanford Declaws the Bruins, 98-68
STANFORD, Calif. -- Kate Starbird scored 15 of her 29 points in the first half as third-ranked Stanford remained perfect in the Pac-10 Conference with a 98-68 thrashing of UCLA.
Vanessa Nygaard added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Cardinal (23-1, 11-0), who shot 43 percent from the field in the first half (17-of-39) and raced to a 45-27 halftime lead. Jamila Wideman added 16 points and Olympia Scott 15 for Stanford, which shot 46 percent (32-of-69) overall.
Melanie Pearson scored 16 points and Maylana Martin added 14 for UCLA (10-10, 4-7), which made 9-of-14 shots in the first half, but committed 34 turnovers in the game.
