Sho Nakamori Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Redshirt senior Sho Nakamori of the Stanford men's gymnastics team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for April 13-19, 2009. Nakamori competed in five events at the NCAA Finals to help the Cardinal become the 2009 NCAA Champions on April 19, 2009 and earned three All-American awards the next day in the NCAA Individual Event Finals.
The Albany, Calif. native took first place on parallel bars with a 15.200 and provided a season-best 15.550 on floor exercise to tie for fourth place in the team finals. He also tied for sixth on horizontal bar with a 14.750. As a team, Stanford won parallel bars and still rings to win the national championship with 362.8 points, 1.3 more than second-place Michigan.
Nakamori qualified to compete in three individual event finals, his final appearance in a Cardinal uniform, and earned All-American honors on all three events by finishing in the top eight. He earned fourth place finishes on parallel bars (14.650) and horizontal bar (14.750) and came in eighth on floor exercise (15.325). His three 2009 honors bring his career total to eight, which ties him for fifth-most All-American awards in Stanford history with Josh Stein.
This is Nakamori's second Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor in his career.
