Carly Janiga Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Senior Carly Janiga (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Saguaro High School) of the Stanford women?™s gymnastics team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 19-25.
Janiga became Stanford?™s first national women?™s gymnastics champion since 1998 when she won the NCAA uneven bars title on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla. She also finished second on the balance beam, was a school-record third in the all-around, and led the Cardinal to a fourth-place team finish.
In addition, by reaching the NCAA Super Six team finals, Janiga and her classmates earned the distinction of becoming the first Stanford class to reach the Super Six three times.
Janiga earned three first-team All-American honors and finished her Stanford career with five top-four individual finishes. Her bars score of 9.9375 was the highest ever for Stanford in any event at the NCAA Individual Event Finals.
This is Janiga?™s second Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and third for the women?™s gymnastics team in the 2010 season. Janiga and the Cardinal placed fourth at the Super Six with their best team score of the season, 197.100, on Friday at the University of Florida?™s O?™Connell Center.
