Alex Clayton Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Alex Clayton of men's tennis was selected as the Stanford Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 20-26.

Sophomore Alex Clayton was selected as the Stanford Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 20-26. Clayton won the ITA Regional Singles Championship on Monday in an all-Cardinal singles final against freshman teammate Bradley Klahn.

Clayton, the nation's fourth ranked singles player, and top seed in the ITA West Regional tournament, won six consecutive matches between Oct. 17 and 20, all in straight sets with exception to the final match, in which he dispatched Klahn 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. He will now go on to represent Stanford at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Charlottesville beginning Nov. 6.

Also nominated: Tom Montgomery (men's soccer), Alessandra Moss (field hockey), Cynthia Barboza (women's volleyball), Teresa Noyola (women's soccer), Drac Wigo (men's water polo).
