Garrett Heath of Stanford men’s track and field was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week for the week of February 11-17.  Heath finished second in the mile at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash. in a time of 3:58.71 to move to third on the all-time list of Stanford milers indoors.

Heath’s time of 3:58.71 was a personal best and added his name to the elite group of sub-4 minute milers in Stanford history.  Just the seventh sub-4 minute miler indoors for Stanford, Heath joins former Olympians, Michael Stember, Gabe Jennings, Jonathon Riley, and Grant Robison in the top-5 on the all-time list.  The time was also an automatic standard for the NCAA Indoor Championships this March in Fayetteville, Ark. Heath currently ranks second in the nation in the mile, less than three tenths of a second off the top spot.

Heath and the Cardinal men’s and women’s track teams will next compete in the MPSF Championships in Seattle, Wash. on Friday, Feb. 29 and Saturday, March 1.
