Ashley Morgan Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Freshman Ashley Morgan (Danville, Calif./Carondelet High School) of the No. 8 Stanford women?™s gymnastics team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of February 1-7.
Morgan earned her first collegiate victories, including her debut all-around, to lead Stanford to victory over No. 24 Washington, Sacramento State and San Jose State on Sunday at Burnham Pavilion.
Morgan won the vault (9.875) and balance beam (9.875), was second in floor exercise (9.90) and sixth on the uneven bars (9.80) on the way to capturing the all-around title with 39.450 points ?“ the most for a Stanford freshman in three years. Each of those scores, except for the floor, was a collegiate career best for Morgan.
This is Morgan?™s first Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and the second for the women?™s gymnastics team in the 2009-10 season. Morgan and the Cardinal currently boast a 6-2 overall record heading into Sunday?™s showdown with Pacific-10 Conference rival and No. 5 UCLA in Westwood.
