Nnemkadi Ogwumike Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Nnemkadi Ogwumike (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair High School) of the Stanford women?™s basketball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 8-14.

Sophomore Nnemkadi Ogwumike (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair High School) of the No. 2/2 Stanford women?™s basketball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 8-14.

Ogwumike posted three double-doubles last weekend to lead Stanford to its seventh Pac-10 Tournament title and clinch the conference?™s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Cypress, Texas native averaged 19.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game and shot 60.5 percent from the field over the three victories, earning Pac-10 Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.

This week?™s Muscle Milk honor is the third of Ogwumike?™s career and the fourth this season for the Cardinal women?™s basketball team.

This weekend, Ogwumike and the Cardinal open play in the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Sacramento Regional. Stanford will take on UC Riverside at 7:30 p.m. at Maples Pavilion in first-round action this Saturday night, March 20. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN2.
