Senior Candice Wiggins (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) of the No. 4/2 Stanford women's basketball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 31–April 6.

Wiggins had herself quite the historic week, leading Stanford to its seventh Final Four with a 41-point effort that led the Cardinal to a 98-87 victory over Maryland in the Spokane Regional Final.  That performance made Wiggins the first player to ever post two 40-point games in a single NCAA Tournament.  She followed that up by being named the State Farm Wade Trophy Player of the Year and just the seventh four–time WBCA All–American in Division I history on Saturday, then scoring 25 points and pulling down 13 rebounds in an 82-73 victory over Connecticut that propelled Stanford into the national championship game for the first time since 1992.

Stanford finished the 2007-08 season 35–4 overall, and with a 16-2 mark in Pac–10 play.

This is Wiggins’ fifth Stanford/Muscle Milk Student–Athlete of the Week honor and the seventh for the women’s basketball team in the 2007-08 season.  Stanford finished the season ranked No. 2 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

Also nominated: Russell Brown (Men’s Track & Field), Rebecca Durham (Women’s Golf), Kelly Eaton (Women’s Water Polo), Danielle Maier (Women’s Track & Field), Spencer McLachlin (Men’s Volleyball), Megan McLain (Lacrosse), Sean Ratliff (Baseball)
