Karen Nesbitt Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior Karen Nesbitt (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore High School) of the Stanford women?™s lacrosse team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 26-May 2.

Nesbitt helped Stanford to the MPSF conference tournament title with three wins in four days. The Cardinal defeated Fresno State, 16-1 on Thursday, California, 9-7 on Friday and Denver, 11-10 in double overtime on Sunday. The conference title was the sixth-straight for Stanford and advanced the Cardinal to the NCAA play-in game on Saturday against UMass.

Nesbitt came through huge in the final, scoring three goals to help Stanford squeak out the victory. Her biggest contribution came in sudden-death overtime when she scored the game-winning goal with just five seconds left in the period. It was an exciting end to a back and forth game and an up and down season for the Cardinal.

Nesbitt has totaled 16 goals for Stanford this season coming mostly off the bench. The junior has also added five assists and 18 draw controls.

This is Nesbitt?™s first Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and first for the women?™s lacrosse team this season.
