Senior Tanner Gardner (Berryton, Kans./Shawnee Heights) of the Stanford wrestling team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Mar.  3-Mar.  9.

Gardner captured his second consecutive Pac-10 title at the Pac-10 Wrestling Championships in Eugene, Ore.  last week, becoming the first Stanford wrestler to win back-to-back conference titles in more than two decades.  In the course of the tournament, the senior shattered the program's career win record (140) and the program's single-season pin record (19) and helped Stanford to its highest Pac-10 finish in school history (2nd).  After pinning his first two opponents and defeating a top-20 wrestler in the title bout, he was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

This is Gardner's first Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor this year.  Gardner returns to action at the NCAA Championships, Mar.  20-22, in St.  Louis.  He will be looking to become the first three-time All-American in school history and Stanford's second NCAA Champion.
