Landry Fields Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior Landry Fields (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) of the Stanford men's basketball team has been selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Dec. 28-Jan. 4.

The honor is the first for a men's basketball player this year and the first of Fields' career.

In four games last week, Fields averaged 13.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as the Cardinal completed its four-game, eight-day stretch with an 3-1 mark. Fields also racked up a team-high 10 steals and shot 51-percent (20-39) from the field.

In a 111-66 rout of Texas Tech on Dec. 28, Fields scored a career-best 19 points to lead Stanford's offensive explosion. Later in the week during a 76-60 win over Arizona, Fields poured in 19 points once again and also hauled down a career-best 12 rebounds for his first career double-double.

Penciled into the starting lineup for the first time in his career, Fields is currently averaging 11.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while leading the Cardinal with 22 steals.

Also nominated: Jillian Harmon (women's basketball), Carly Janiga (women's gymnastics) and Nick Amuchastegui (wrestling).
