Jordan Morris Is Muscle Milk Athlete Of The Week


Freshman forward Jordan Morris of the Stanford men's soccer team has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 23-29.

The honor is the first of Morris' career and the first this season for the Cardinal men.

Morris scored the first two goals of his collegiate career in Stanford's 2-1 overtime win Friday night at UC Santa Barbara. The Mercer Island, Wash. native scored the match's opener just after the half-hour mark then, after UCSB equalized to send the match into extra time, netted the winner in the 95th minute to silence the Gaucho home crowd of 7,750.

The win was Stanford's second in two years at UC Santa Barbara, improved the Cardinal's record to 5-1-1 on the campaign and extended the team's winning streak to five matches for the first time since September 2009.

Stanford begins Pac-12 play this weekend at Cagan Stadium, taking on No. 5 Washington Thursday night at 7 p.m. before matching up with Oregon State Sunday at 3 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
