STANFORD, Calif. -- Senior Taylor Uhl of the No. 4 Stanford women's soccer team was selected as the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of September 2-8.
Uhl scored three goals over the weekend, including two in a 3-0 victory Sunday over No. 16 Maryland, to increase her team-leading goal total to four.
Uhl headed in the first and third goals against Maryland, both from sequences that began with corner kicks by Courtney Verloo. The first came in the 10th minute when she headed the ball after it had deflected off the heads of two other players. She added another goal on a powerful header directly off the corner kick.
She also scored the final goal in a 4-0 victory over Loyola Marymount on Friday.
This is Uhl’s first Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and the first for the women’s soccer team since Lo’eau LaBonta earned the honor on Nov. 26, 2012. Uhl and the Cardinal are 4-0-1 heading into Sunday’s match against visiting Iowa State.
Also nominated: Brett Bonanni (Men’s Water Polo), Tyler Gaffney (Football), Kelsey Harbin (Field Hockey), Eric Verso (Men’s Soccer), Rachel Williams (Women’s Volleyball).
