Ajanaku Collects Weekly Honor

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's volleyball player Inky Ajanaku was named #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week for her performances in the NCAA Ames Regional last week, which saw the Cardinal advance to the Final Four for the first time since 2008.

Ajanaku, a middle blocker from Tulsa, Okla., averaged a team-best 3.57 kills per set while hitting .400. She also collected five blocks as the Cardinal defeated Pac-12 foe Oregon State (3-1) and No. 8 seed Florida (3-0).

Against the Gators, Ajanaku became the 16th Stanford women's volleyball player to reach the 1,000 kill milestone. She was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Ames Regional as Stanford tied a program record for wins in a season with 33.

Stanford (33-1) is making its nation-best 19th NCAA semifinal appearance and seventh under head coach John Dunning, who is in his 14th season at the helm of the Cardinal. No. 1 seed Stanford will take on No. 5 seed Penn State on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
