STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford field hockey’s Alex McCawley was named the #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance this past weekend in victories against Maine, Boston University and New Hampshire.
McCawley, an international relations major, scored three of Stanford’s five goals during the weekend, including two game-winners. McCawley scored twice against Boston University and netted an overtime winner at New Hampshire.

McCawley is the second #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week in 2014 after receiving the most votes in the weekly @GoStanford Twitter poll. Among the four Cardinal student-athletes to choose from, #VoteMcCawley received the most votes.
McCawley is the second consecutive field hockey player to earn the weekly honor after teammate Lauren Becker claimed the inaugural Twitter poll award last week.
It is the first time Stanford has had two or more Stanford student-athlete of the week awards since 2010 when Stephanie Byrne (Oct. 4) and Becky Dru (Nov. 8) claimed honors.
Fans can participate in the weekly poll on Mondays with results revealed on Tuesdays.
