STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford wrestler Jim Wilson was voted the #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week for his All-America performance at the NCAA Championships last week.
Wilson, a psychology major from Lodi, California, finished eighth at 165 pounds at the 2015 NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Missouri. He wrapped-up his second season with the Cardinal with a team-best 34-7 overall record. He is now 69-15 in two seasons at Stanford.
Wilson won in the round of 12 to become the 17th All-American in program history and the first since Nick Amuchastegui (2nd) and Ryan Mango (5th) placed in St. Louis in 2012. Wilson is the first sophomore to earn the status since Mango (6th) did so in 2011 in Philadephia.
It marks the second weekly honor of the season for Wilson and the fifth time a Cardinal wrestler has taken home the award. It is the third time Wilson has been recognized in his career.
