STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford redshirt junior Ivana Hong was named the #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week for her standout performance this past weekend at the NCAA Morgantown Regional.
It is Hong’s first #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week honor this year. She is the first women’s gymnastics recipient of the award in 2015.
Hong claimed the NCAA Morgantown Regional beam title with a career-best 9.950 and tied for third on bars with a 9.900. She has earned four of Stanford’s top-five scores on beam this season.
Hong’s performance helped Stanford earn a 197.000 team score to place second and secure a spot at the NCAA Championships for the eighth time in the past nine years and 15th time overall.
Hong and Stanford will pursue a trip to the NCAA Super Six and a national title when it travels to the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, April 17-19.
