NCAA Ratings Best In Nine Years

NEW YORK (AP) - CBS' coverage of the NCAA tournament on Thursday earned an overnight rating of 5.0 with an 11 share.
CBS' broadcasts received an increase of 6 percent over last year's 4.7/11 and were the best numbers for the opening round since 1993, when CBS got a 5.1/12.
The prime-time coverage of four games, including North Carolina-Wilmington's upset of Southern California, earned a 7.3 rating and 12 share, up 22 percent over last year's 6.0/10.
Overnight ratings measure the 53 largest TV markets in the United States, covering about 65 percent of the country.
