Prior to Stanford

• Played at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah for head coach Eric Kjar
• As an inside linebacker, ranked No. 25 nationally by Rivals and No. 57 by ESPN
• Ranked as the No. 6 prospect in the state of Utah by Rivals and No. 8 by ESPN
• Highest rated inside linebacker in the state of Utah, per ESPN and Rivals
• Also competed in track and field at Corner Canyon
• Helped lead Corner Canyon to the 2023 6A State Championship
• Ran in four touchdowns as a junior at Salt Lake City Skyline, averaging over five yards per carry
• Compiled over 250 tackles, seven forced fumbles, and four interceptions in his career
• All-6A honoree
• Three-time All-Region honors
• Second Team All-State in 2022
• 2022 5A Defensive Player of the Year runner-up
• Four-time High Honor Roll student

 

Personal

• Son of Steve and Savanna Tate
• Has four younger siblings: Mia, Reese, Wes, and Heath
• Father was a safety for the University of Utah
• Enjoys spending time with family and friends
• Grew up close friends with current Stanford safety Scotty Edwards
• When he was 13, wrote in a journal that he would one day play football at Stanford
• Interested in studying Business and Finance
