Tristan McLaren is in his second season as Assistant Director of Football Sports Performance at Stanford in 2024. He comes to The Farm after coaching at Sacramento State since 2020 with Kissick Family Director of Football Sports Performance Ryan Deatrick.
 
McLaren was the assistant director of strength and conditioning at Sacramento State since Feb. 2020. In addition to working with football, McLaren also developed the strength and conditioning program for baseball.
 
Prior to his time at Sacramento State, McLaren was the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Bridgeport from April 2017 through Feb. 2020. Prior to his time at Bridgeport, McLaren was an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Trinity College (Oct. 2015 – April 2017), a Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach for the New York Mets (Dec. 2013 – Oct. 2015) and a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Ithaca College (Aug. 2012 – Dec. 2013).
 
McLaren is a 2007 graduate of Hofstra University and played tight end for the Pride. He earned his master’s in human performance at Ithaca College in 2014. He is NSCA-CSCS, USAW Level I, RPR Level I, First Aid, CPR & AED, and Precision Nutrition Level II certified.
