Alec Scott was named the Skip Kenney Assistant Coach of the men's swimming and diving program in advance of the 2026-27 season.
No stranger to Stanford, Scott began as a volunteer assistant with the men’s swimming and diving program in 2019. He’s seen the Cardinal land five consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships and has helped produce well over 60 All-Americans on The Farm. He’s worked closely with three Olympians in the past few years alone: Andrei Minakov, Ron Polonsky, and Jonathan Tan.
At Alto Swim Club in Palo Alto, Scott has been on staff since 2018 and is one of the Lead Coaches for the National Group. He’s helped over 110 swimmers to Junior National Cuts and five Olympic Trials qualifications. The team has earned nine sectional titles and won the 2019 USA Swimming National Championship.
Scott previously coached at the University of Alabama and the University of Northern Colorado. At Northern Colorado, Scott helped the Bears win three WAC conference championships, achieve four NCAA ‘B” qualifying standards, break seven school records and produce 14 podium finishes at the conference championships.Scott previously served as a volunteer assistant at Alabama for the 2016-17 season, helping the Crimson Tide earn 33 All-America honors and seven school records.
In 2016, Scott graduated from Alabama with a bachelors’ degree in journalism. Scott began his collegiate swimming career at Indian River State College before transferring to Alabama and finishing his collegiate career with the Crimson Tide.
