  • Mother played on the Brazilian Indoor National Team in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in Atlanta, and twice finished fifth for Brazil in beach volleyball in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games 
  • Father coached in four Olympics for Brazil, winning a gold medal in 1992 (1988 assistant coach women's national team, 1992 and 1996 assistant coach men's national team, 2004 head coach women's beach volleyball)
• Has a younger sibling, Victoria
• Stepfather, Carl John Henkel, was a member of UCLA's 1989 NCAA championship team and played on the U.S. National Team
  • He finished fifth at the 1996 Olympic Games in beach volleyball.
• His aunt, Marcelle Rodrigues, was the setter for the Brazilian National Team from 2000-06, winning gold at the 2005 Grand Prix and was a 2005 World Cup Champion
• His uncle, Andre Heller, played in three Olympic Games for the Brazilian National Team (2000, 2004, 2008), winning gold in Athens and silver in Beijing
