Atlantic Brugman was named Stanford assistant sailing coach in September of 2015.
In her first season on The Farm, Brugman was integral to Stanford's success, primarily working with the women's racing group. Her efforts helped Stanford finish ninth at ICSA Women's Nationals, while winning the PCCSC Women's Championship in dominant fashion.
A two-time All-American at Connecticut College, Brugman participated in the ICSA National Championship in each of her four seasons as a college sailor. She had three consecutive A-class top-five finishes in the women’s division, while leading her team to a second-place finish at Nationals in 2011 and first place in the 2012 Women’s National Semifinals.
She was co-captain of the sailing team for three seasons at Connecticut College, having received her Ocean Yacht Master Captains license at age 18. In her senior year, she was named Female Athlete of the Year at Connecticut College, the highest athletic award at the school.
Prior to college, Brugman competed in both the World and European Championships, earning various age group Spanish and French National Championships. She specializes in racing optimist and 420 boats, and has spent every summer since her sophomore year of college coaching young sailors at various yacht clubs on the East Coast.
A native of Barcelona, Spain, Brugman has lived in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Dominican Republic. She is fluent in French, Spanish, English, Italian and Catalan.
