Belle Strachan enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Stanford sailing teams in 2018-19.

Strachan, who has coached at junior programs all over the country, was a four-year member of the sailing team at George Washington University. While with the Colonials, she led the program to its first three national championship appearances (2015 women's, 2016 coed and 2018 team race).

In addition, Strachan sailed as the A-division crew to win George Washington's first-ever conference championship in the Fall of 2015, and was a member of two others (Spring 2016 and Fall 2017).

A three-time All-MAISA crew honoree and two-time Academic All-American, Strachan served as the social media representative for the Mid-Atlantic Conference and has worked with the US Sailing media team to help cover national and international sailing events.

A native of Annapolis, Md., Strachan began sailing at the age of five and grew up sailing Opti's and C420's. She remains an avid team racer, and won the Hinman Trophy US Team Racing Championship in 2016.

Strachan graduated from George Washington in 2018 with a bachelor's in business administration, concentrating in marketing with a minor in journalism and mass communications.
