2012 Season: Outdoors - Finished second at the NCAA Championships in dramatic fashion ... threw personal record 180-2 on her sixth and final throw -- more than 12 feet farther than her second-best of the day ... that throw ranked her at No. 9 on the 2012 U.S. performance list ... earned first-team All-America honors ... won the Pac-12 championship with a throw of 175-9 ... was second at the NCAA West preliminary meet at 167-1 ... advanced to the Olympic trials and in Eugene and placed 13th with a 162-4 throw in the prelims ... earned Pac-12 Field Athlete of the Week (April 17) after winning the Big Meet with a toss of 171-2 ... finished second in the USATF junior national championships, with a throw of 161-2. Indoors - Did not compete.
International: Finished 26th at the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, with a throw of 156-3.
High School: Set the Aloha school record in the javelin with a toss of 164-1 ... a two-time All-American in the javelin ... named the Metro League Athlete of the year for 2010-11 ... twice was fourth in the Oregon 6A state championship meet in the javelin ... three-time all-state and all-Metro League while at Aloha ... also played water polo and was a conference player of the year ... three-time all-league in water polo and basketball ... captain of the track team all four years ... won 12 varsity letters and played four sports.
Personal: Major is undeclared ... daughter of Don and Laura Bain ... one older sister, Sarah, who is a setter on the volleyball team at Dominican University ... uncle Ernie Steele played was a running back in the NFL from 1942-48 -- seven season with the Philadelphia Eagles and one for the "Steagles," the one-season merger between the Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers ... uncle Don Duncan, the former swimming coach at University of Puget Sound, was an NAIA national coach of the year and is in the NAIA Hall of Fame ... enjoys playing the piano and baking.
