Chris Swircek returns for his fourth season as the program's volunteer assistant coach in 2022-23.
Swircek enters his 20th season overall on The Farm, arriving on campus in 2004. Swircek previously served as the program's associate head coach, with his primary coaching responsibilities being the vault and uneven bars. In his previous role, Swircek coordinated team travel, managed the club and summer camp programs, and provided additional oversight in recruiting.
During Swircek's tenure, Stanford produced conference titles in 2004, 2006 and 2008, two NCAA champions on bars (Carly Janiga in 2010 and Elizabeth Prince in 2018) and one NCAA vault winner (Elizabeth Price in 2015). Ten Stanford gymnasts claimed NCAA Regional crowns on bars and seven on vault.
Overall, Swircek has produced 54 All-Americans: 25 on bars, 13 on vault, four on floor and 18 in the all-around.
Named NCAA regional assistant coach of the year in 2007 and 2016, Swircek helped Stanford secure four top-four national finishes and Seven Super Six appearances.
Swircek joined the Stanford staff after coaching at the West Valley Gymnastics Club, a National-Team Training Center in Campbell, Calif., for seven years. During his stint, Swircek tutored four Junior Olympic national champions and 15 members of the TOP national team, and led his 2003 Level-10 squad to the state championships.
A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Swircek competed on the men's gymnastics team at San Jose State, graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1993. He served as an undergraduate assistant for the program in 1994.
Chris and his wife, Shelley, reside in San Jose.
