Brooke McKenzie enters her fifth season at Stanford as a member of head coach Amy Bokker's staff. She is an active international competitor and a veteran of Amy Bokker's staff at George Mason. She plays an integral role in assisting Bokker with all aspects of the team, including often being the one to call plays from the sideline.
In 2011, McKenzie helped the Cardinal return to the NCAA tournament for the second-straight season. Stanford finished with a school-record 16 wins and a program-best national ranking of No. 6 during the season. McKenzie helped orchestrate the nation's second-leading scoring attack, a big part of the Cardinal success. The Cardinal eventually fell to Florida in the first round of the NCAA tournament, losing 13-11.
In 2010, McKenzie helped lead Stanford back to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2006, where it ironically played its first round game at her alma mater of James Madison.
In 2009, McKenzie competed for Canada in the World Cup where she scored 12 goals and had five assists in seven games. McKenzie had four multi-goal games to lead Canada to a third-place finish in the tournament.
This was McKenzie's second World Cup, having played on Canada's fourth-place team in 2005. She made her national-team debut in 2003.
McKenzie was a four-year starting attacker at James Madison and helped the Dukes to three Colonial Athletic Association titles and two NCAA quarterfinal appearances.
The Englewood, Colo., native is the daughter of 1980 Pittsburgh Penguin draft pick Steve McKenzie and was born in Corner Brook, in Newfoundland, Canada, while her father was playing minor-league hockey there.
McKenzie received unique insight into coaching during her final season at James Madison, completing a coaching internship under former James Madison head coach Kellie Young. This prior coaching experience helped McKenzie immediately fulfill her duties of assisting with an offensive game plan, recruiting and scouting opponents when she arrived at George Mason.
