Brian Favat serves as the Executive Associate Athletics Director, Director of Finance for Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation.
As part of his duties, Favat oversees the department’s financial operations and serves as a member of the department’s Executive Team. He serves as the primary advisor to the Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Operating Officer and the Athletics Director about the financial implications of operational, capital and other strategies for Varsity Athletics’ 36 varsity sports, campus Recreation & Wellness operations, including the Stanford Red Barn Equestrian Center and the Stanford Campus Recreation Association (SCRA), Stanford Golf Course, and summer camp operations.
Favat also serves as the sport administrator for the men’s and women’s water polo programs, and has previously overseen five other Varsity programs.
He arrived at Stanford as Director, Ticketing Systems and Data Management in March 2015 before being promoted to Assistant Athletics Director, Business Strategy & Ticket Operations in 2016. In September 2018, he was promoted to Associate Athletics Director, Business Strategy & Ticket Operations before being named Associate Athletics Director, Finance & Business Operations in March 2019.
Favat has been an active member of the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee since September 2022 and currently serves as the Committee Chairman. He also has served as an adjunct professor in the Menlo College Sports Management program, teaching undergraduate courses in Introduction to Sports Management and Sport Finance.
Prior to Stanford, Favat worked for several years as a technology consultant with Infosys Consulting, specializing in financial services and insurance companies. He began his professional career at Morgan Stanley as a program manager in their Enterprise Data Group.
The Gibbsboro, NJ native is a graduate of Boston College and earned a Masters of Business Administration in 2010 from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management. Favat and his wife, Megan, have three daughters: Vivian, Audrey, and the late Marien.
