Cory Robinson enters his first season as cornerbacks coach and defensive passing game coordinator. A 17-year coaching veteran with NFL and power conference ties, Robinson will coach in the ACC for the second time in his career.
Robinson spent last season with Boston College as the Eagles' defensive backs coach in a return to college football after spending the 2024 season coaching in the NFL.
In his one season with the Eagles, Robinson helped develop junior defensive back KP Price into a Second Team All-ACC talent. Price led the Eagles in tackles with 94 and added two interceptions with a fumble recovery. His 5.4 solo tackles per game were third-best in FBS and paced the conference.
Robinson spent the 2024 season in the NFL with Jacksonville as the Jaguars’ cornerbacks coach, where he worked with current Willie Shaw Director of Defense & Defensive Backs Coach, Kris Richard. He arrived in Jacksonville after spending 2023 with the Tennessee Volunteers as a defensive analyst, helping lead the Vols to a 9-4 record and an appearance in the Camping World Bowl. Their defense intercepted 12 passes that year, which ranked third in the SEC.
From 2020-22, Robinson served as the New Orleans Saints' assistant defensive backs coach. The Saints had a top-10 scoring defense in all three seasons and a top-5 in both 2020 and 2021. In 2022, the Saints ranked second in the NFL in passing defense at 184.3 yards per game. During his stint in New Orleans, Robinson worked with a pair of Pro-Bowl defensive backs. Corner Marshon Lattimore earned Pro Bowl status in 2020 and 2021, while J.T. Gray was a 2021 All-Pro First Team honoree and Pro Bowl selection. Robinson once again worked with Richard while in New Orleans in 2021-22.
Robinson previously worked as a cornerbacks coach at the collegiate level with Maryland (2019), Rutgers (2018), Temple (2017), and Toledo (2016).
A Baltimore native, Robinson began his coaching career with stops at Calvert Hall (2009-13) and St. Frances Academy (2014). He played his high school football at Cardinal Gibbons before a four-year Division I career at Central Connecticut State from 2005-08, where he graduated in 2009 with a degree in communications and a minor in business/marketing.
Robinson and his wife Candy have three sons: Denali, Royal, and Legend.
