Danielle Davis, a former standout at Illinois, joined the Stanford staff as a volunteer assistant coach in February 2020.

A native of Bloomington, Illinois, Davis comes to The Farm after serving one season in the same capacity at Santa Clara under former Cardinal assistant Erin Lindsey.

Davis earned master’s degrees in sports administration (2019) and business administration (2018) from Ohio University. In 2017, she served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bobcats and was an assistant coach for the Illini Elite Volleyball Club 17 Cardinal team, which won the 17 Open AAU National Championship.

Playing for Cardinal head coach Kevin Hambly at llinois, Davis helped the Illini reach the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 in three consecutive seasons (2013-15). The defensive specialist played in 114 matches with 72 starts and registered 798 digs in her career. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a 2016 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar (awarded for maintaining a 3.7 GPA or higher for the academic year). 

Davis studied Kinesiology as an undergraduate at Illinois, graduating in 2017. She has also worked as an ARC personal trainer at her alma mater and a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Kansas.
