Stanford-Santa Clara Men's Soccer Game ChangedBay Area rivals to meet at Stanford's New Maloney Field.May 7, 1998 STANFORD, Calif. - The time and location of the men's soccer spring match on Saturday, May 9 between Bay Area rivals Stanford and Santa Clara has been changed. Originally scheduled to be played in Salinas, Calif. at 4:00 p.m., the game has been moved to Stanford's New Maloney Field and will begin at 11:00 a.m. The game between the Cardinal and Broncos will be meeting a two 1997 NCAA tournament participants. Stanford, ranked 15th in the final '97 Soccer America poll, advanced to the tourney for the first time in five years, falling 2-1 in overtime to Washington in the first round. Santa Clara, making its third consecutive appearance, also exited in the first round, losing to eventual national champion UCLA 3-0. |
