Men's Volleyball Falls to No. 6 Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Long Beach State men's volleyballteam swept the seventh-ranked Stanford Cardinal, 15-11, 15-13, 15-7,Friday night at The Pyramid in Long Beach.

In the opening game, Stanford led early on, 5-2, but the 49ers wouldlead at 10-9 and outscore the Cardinal five-one the rest of the game.Neil Mason (Jr., Toronto, Canada) came off the 49er bench and had sevenkills and just one error in 11 game one attempts.

The Cardinal again led early and for most of game two, including10-5. But Long Beach State rallied to win the game, 15-13. Neitherteam hit well in the second game (SU-.167, LB-.130).

Long Beach State controlled most of game three and won, 15-7.

Mason would finish the night with a double-double for The Beach, 18kills and 12 digs. Gabe Gardner just missed a double-double forStanford, with 17 kills and nine digs.
