Stanford Beats Cal, 4-2
Cardinal claims No. 2 ranking.

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior goalie Heather Crary had 10 saves and the Cardinal held on to an early lead to beat California 4-2 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Saturday in Berkeley. The Cardinal, which shares the No. 2 national ranking with the Golden Bears this week, improves to 10-2 overall, 3-0 in MPSF play, while the Golden Bears fall to 10-3, 1-1. It was the third meeting of the year between the two teams, with Cal winning the first 6-3 (Feb. 14) and Stanford winning the second 5-3 (Feb. 28).
Stanford got its four goals from four different players. Sophomores Hilary Gallogly (Orinda, CA/Miramonte), Kris Koblik (Davis, CA/Davis) and Anne-Marie Keenan (Woodside, CA/Menlo School) and freshman Margie Dingeldein (Merced, CA/Merced) tallied for the Cardinal. Stanford led 2-0 at the half and scored twice more in the third period to put the game out of reach at 4-1.
