STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's basketball team has faced six ranked opponents in six games and is now 2-4 against such opposition after handing No. 23 Wisconsin its first loss of the season. The Cardinal prevailed 78-66 Sunday afternoon at Maples Pavilion.
Junior Milena Flores led Stanford with 17 points, including hitting four of five shots from three-point range. Teammate Carolyn Moos posted a double-double, adding 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinal. Stanford's Regan Freuen led all players with 13 rebounds.
The Cardinal led for most of the first half. The team's biggest lead was 10 points after Freuen recorded a three off a pass from Lauren St. Clair. Wisconsin pulled to within four points of Stanford by intermission and tied the game at 37 early in the second half. The lead changed six more times before the Cardinal pulled away with 14 minutes left on the clock. Stanford is now 2-4 on the season while the Badgers drop to 4-1.
The Cardinal will travel to Santa Clara for a game on Fri., Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
