Men's Tennis Defeats Sacramento State, 4-0

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's tennis team, seeded second in the NCAA Tournament, easily won its first round match, defeating Sacramento State 4-0 this afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

After wining the doubles point, the Cardinal cruised to straight-set victories at the No. 1, 5 and 6 singles slots, giving up only seven games.

Stanford's record improves to 19-2, while Sacramento State ends its season with a 15-5 mark.

The Cardinal will face Georgia Tech in a second-round matchup tomorrow afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. The Yellow Jackets defeated Boise State 4-1 earlier in the day to advance to the round of 32.

The winner of tomorrow's match will advance to the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. The NCAA changed postseason formats this year, requiring all 16 Championship participants to compete at the regional level.
