STANFORD, Calif. - The fourth-ranked Stanford men's tennis team fell to top-ranked UCLA 5-2 this afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
K.J. Hippensttel and Ali Ansari were the only Cardinal players to record victories in singles competition for Stanford. But the Cardinal battled, as seven of the 14 singles sets went into extra games or tie-breakers.
The Cardinal falls to an 11-2 overall record and drops its first Pac-10 contest to become 5-1 in league play. The Bruins improve to 17-1, 3-1 in conference action.
Stanford will remain in Los Angeles to take on USC tomorrow afternoon. The Cardinal will return home to play Cal this Tues., April 6. Matches will begin at Taube Family Tennis Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
