STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Lindsey Yamasaki registered six three pointers - three in each half - to lead the Cardinal over Northwestern 92-77 in non-conference action Tuesday night at Maples Pavilion.

The win snapped a five-game win streak for the Wildcats and marked the first time this season that Stanford has won two in a row. The 92 points the Cardinal recorded was also the most for the squad this season. Stanford is also 3-1 vs. Big-Ten opponents in 1998.

The Cardinal led by as many as 25 points in the first half as the team shot 49 percent from the field and was five-for-10 from behind the arc. Stanford held Northwestern to a 27 percent shooting first half.

The Wildcats cut Stanfords lead to 16 points by intermission, but easy baskets by Sarah Dimson and Carolyn Moos, as well as three-pointers from Yamasaki and Christina Batastini, put the Cardinal up by 26 just 2:30 into the second half.

Batastini added 18 points for Stanford, while Moos posted 14 points to go along with six boards.

Senior Megan Chawansky led Northwestern with 29 points, 24 of which came in the second half. Sophomore Tami Sears pulled down a game high 12 rebounds for the Wildcats.Stanford improves to 4-5 on the season while Northwestern falls to 5-3.

The Cardinal will travel to three-time defending national champion and second-ranked Tennessee on Sat., Dec. 19. That game will be played at noon PST. After the holiday, Stanford will remain on the road and take on Colorado, Mon., Dec. 28 at 5 p.m. PST.
