Women's Golf Team Remains Sixth at NCAAs

TULSA, Okla. - Stanford shot a second straight 304 Thursday at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships to remain in sixth place at the Tulsa Country Club. The Cardinal gained five shots on leader Duke, which carded a 309 to move to 597, and is only five strokes out of second place with two rounds left to play.

Arizona State's Grace Park remained the overall leader, shooting a 73 to finish at even-par 142 for the tournament. Stanford was led by sophomore Hilary Homeyer (Edina, MN/Edina HS), who shot a three-over 74 to move into a tie for eighth place at 149. Classmate Stephanie Keever (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron-Memorial HS) fired a second straight 76 to move into a tie for 22nd, and junior Julie Dunn (Las Vegas, NV/Bishop Gorman HS) shot a 77 to fall into a tie for 26th. Senior Michelle Sperry (Poway, CA/Poway HS) shot her second 77 to move up into a tie for 29th place, while junior JaeJean Ro (San Jose, CA/Valley Christian HS) dropped six strokes from the first round, carding a 78 to move up to 81st. The tournament was briefly delayed due to the threat of lightning with Stanford, Duke and several other teams still on the course, but after a brief delay, all players were able to complete the round.

The teams will play another 18 holes Friday and Saturday. Friday's third round will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time.
