Women's Hoops Falls to No. 10 UCLA

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman guard Lindsey Yamasaki scored 12 of her game-high 21 points in the game's final five minutes, but it was enough, as No. 10 UCLA pulled out a 80-72 victory at Maples Pavilion on Saturday afternoon.

The Bruins win snapped a 67 consecutive win streak for the Cardinal in Pac-10 play at Maples Pavilion. UCLA had not won on Stanford's home court since the 1987-88 season.

The Cardinal fell behind early, but grabbed its first lead of the game with 6:35 left in the first half. The teams exchanged leads for the next few minutes until consecutive three-pointers by senior Regan Frueun and junior Milena Flores put Stanford ahead 30-27 at intermission.

In the second half, UCLA came back and scored 17 points off of 14 Cardinal turnovers.

Also scoring for Stanford was sophomore Sarah Dimson, with 13 points, and freshman Bethany Donaphin, who posted a double-double, recording 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Senior center Maylana Martin led UCLA with 20 points and seven rebounds.

The Cardinal falls to 7-9, 3-2 in the Pac-10 while the Bruins remain undefeated in the conference at 6-0 and improve to 14-4 overall.

Stanford heads north and will face Washington State on Thurs., Jan. 21 and Washington on Sat., Jan. 23. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m.
