KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tamika Catchings scored 23 points to lead fourdouble-figure scorers Saturday as Tennessee held Stanford to 15 first-halfpoints in a 98-62 victory.

Tennessee (8-1) controlled the game from start to finish, leading by as manyas 40 points in the first half. Stanford (4-6), which shot 16 percent from thefield in the first half, missed 15 of its first 16 shots and never recovered.

Chamique Holdsclaw scored 17 points, Semeka Randall had 16 and KristenClement 14 for Tennessee. Holdsclaw also had 10 rebounds and six assists.

Catchings and Holdsclaw led Tennessee's fast start, combining for 12 pointsin a 20-4 run to open the game. Catchings and Clement led another surge thatgave the Lady Vols a 36-6 lead with six minutes left in the first half.

The Cardinal, struggling against Tennessee's relentless defensive pressure,committed turnovers on five straight possessions late in the half. That allowedTennessee several easy baskets that led to a 53-15 halftime lead.

Stanford's shooting improved in the second half. The Cardinal hit eight3-pointers and shot 35 percent from the floor.

But the Lady Vols never faltered. A 17-4 run midway through the half builtthe lead to 84-37.

Lindsey Yamasaki led Stanford with 13 points and helped the Cardinal closeto 91-60 late in the game.
