Men's soccer falls to Gonzaga 3-1

Sept. 11, 1999

Fresno, Calif.-The No. 9 ranked Stanford men's soccer team lost Friday night to Gonzaga 3-1 at the Fresno Tournament.

Stanford scored it's only goal of the night in the second half when the Gonzaga goalkeeper deflected a shot and it hit off Junior Brandon Garringer to score.

Gonzaga scored its third goal of the game when they were awarded a penalty kick.

Head coach Bobby Clark said, "We had a slow start, but then we got into the game and played well. It was disappointing from the results point of view, but it was a good test for us. We'll have a tough game on Sunday against the Oakland team. It will let us see what we're made of. Hopefully we can get back into the winning way."
