ST. LOUIS, MO. - Freshman Keri Beckhorn scored with 1:37 remaining in the second overtime to lead Louisville to a 2-1 win over Stanford in St. Louis Wednesday. The Cardinal out-shot Louisville 22-6 and Stanford goalie Rebecca Shapiro (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) made only one save, in the second overtime, but the Cardinal still fell to 1-3 on the year. The Cardinals improve to 1-3 with the win.
Junior Lainey Habeeb scored with only 36 seconds remaining in the first half to give Louisville the lead. Tonya Harrison and Pip Sanders assisted. Stanford tied it up with 11:08 reamining in the game on an unassisted goal from senior Lindsey Dunagan (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis Country Day), who was returning to play in her home town. Stanford out-shot the Cardinals 16-2 through regulation, and added four shots in the first overtime and two in the second overtime, but could not produce the game-winner.
Stanford returns to action Friday against Kent State in St. Louis.
