STANFORD, Calif. - It was a frustrating game of great offense and evengreater defense Friday night at the Stanford/Nike Tournament betweenStanford and Harvard. The Cardinal took 26 shots at the Harvard goal, butcouldn't put one in the net until 86 minutes into the game.
Sophomore defender Lee Morrison scored the only goal of the nightoff a corner kick that was deflected out of the net by Harvard goalkeeperMike Meagher, but Junior Luke Rust found an open Morrison, and he was ableto finally put it away.
Harvard's Meagher made ten saves against Stanford attacks. SeniorCardinal goalkeeper Adam Zapala made two saves, one on a penalty kick fromHarvard.
Head coach Bobby Clark said, "When you outshoot a team 26-6, youknow you've dominated the game. I think the first half was one of the besthalves Stanford has put together in my time here. While Zapala had littleto do, he stepped up when he needed to, and I think that's the hallmark ofa great goalie, when they're called upon, they come up big."
