STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Logan Tom (Salt Lake City, UT/Highland HS) had a career-high 26 kills in just three games as sixth-ranked Stanford University (11-1 overall, 5-0 in the Pac-10) defeated Oregon State (7-6, 1-4) 15-11, 15-11, 15-5 on Friday night at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal has now won 10 straight overall, and is 29-0 all-time against the Beavers.

The 26 kills is the most by a Cardinal since Kristin Folkl recorded 26 in a four-game win over Hawaii on November 23, 1997. The 26 kills is the highest three-game total in the Pac-10 this season, and the fourth highest in the conference overall. Tom, the 1998 National Girls Volleyball High School Player of the Year, hit .375 for the match and also added nine digs and two service aces.

The Beavers and Cardinal fought to a 7-7 tie midway through game one, before the hosts reeled off seven straight points to pull away. Oregon State, however, raced out to a 10-5 lead on game two before Stanford scored 10 of the final 11 points to win the game and take a commanding 2-0 lead. Stanford then cruised in game three to post its 10th straight victory.

Redshirt freshman Lindsey Yamasaki (Oregon City, OR/Oregon City HS) hit .409 with a career-high 13 kills for the Cardinal, while sophomore middle blockers Tara Conrad (Torrance, CA/West HS) and Sara Sandrik (Pelham, AL/Pelham HS) contributed 10 kills apiece.

Senior middle blocker Sarah Bjeldanes (El Cerrito, CA/El Cerrito HS) led Oregon State with 12 kills, while juniors Angie Shirley (Hayden, ID/Coeur d'Alene HS) and Krista Kinsman (Calgary, Canada/William Aberhart HS) added 11 kills apiece.

Stanford returns to action on Thursday night when it visits No. 10 UCLA at 7:00 p.m. in a battle for the Pac-10 lead. The Cardinal currently leads the conference with a 5-0 mark, while UCLA is just a half-game back at 4-0.
