Seattle, Wash. - The fifth-ranked Stanford women's golf team is in third place after shooting a 299 first round at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Seattle, Wash today. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 5990 yard Sahalee Country Club.
The Cardinal got strong first round play from its two All-American juniors Stephanie Keever and Hilary Homeyer. Keever will begin tomorrow's second round tied for third place after a 72 on the first day, while Homeyer is close behind in sixth place after shooting a two-over 74.
Tied with Homeyer in sixth place is senior teammate JaeJean Ro who shot a season-low round of 74.
Freshman Kim Rowton, playing in her second collegiate tournament, is currently tied with six other golfers for 28th place after shooting a 79 in the first round. Junior Lauren Robertson rounds out the Cardinal golfers with a first round 83, tying her for 49th place.
Stanford trails first place USC (293) by six strokes and second place Pepperdine (298) by one. Keever is only three-strokes off the pace, trailing Tamie Durdin of Pepperdine who shot a 69.
